Tres Sekushi - A Kimono Photo Shoot

Over the past 2 months of working out at my gym I have struck up somewhat of friendship with the old woman (hereafter referred to as obaachan) who owns it. Though I can honestly only understand about 60% of what she says, she is super nice and laughs a lot, especially at my attempts to speak Japanese. For some reason or another, I had this fabulous idea that involved me and Leeburger getting decked out in kimonos and taking some pictures at some traditional, Japanesey looking place. Originally I had bought a kimono at a second hand store, but when I showed it to obaachan she laughed and said that although it was a kimono, it was of a kind more in line with a bathrobe than something you would actually wear out in public, let alone take a picture in. That is when obaachan started pulling all of her old woman connections. Sooo... on Saturday morning the Burgster and I went to the obaachan's neighbor's house and got gussied up Japanese style. Obaachan's neigbor let us use her kimonos for the day and a woman who works out at the gym came to do Lee's hair and help us with the actual puting on of the kimonos (an arduous task by any standards). So, without further ado, let us look at some pictures:

Lee and I posing in front of the Shinto shrine near our apartment.

Tomu looking quite samurai-like.

Because I live so close to my schools, getting out of this without being
spotted by any of my students was more or less impossible.

My animal magnetism at work,
albeit on old Japanese ladies.

Burger's turn.
